RIP Lizabeth Scott née Emma Matzo (1922-2015)

Lizabeth Scott, the sultry hard-boiled blonde femme fatale with the seductive voice, died January 31 at age 92 of congestive heart failure. Born Emma Matzo, she modeled and appeared on stage before making her mark in film noirs like The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946), Dead Reckoning (1947), and Desert Fury (1948). She did comedy too in Scared Stiff (1953) with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

In 1954 scandal magazine Confidential claimed Scott was a lesbian and linked to a prostitution ring. Scott unsuccessfully sued. It is debatable if this ruined her career as her career was already in the decline before the article.  There are claims Scott dated musician Burt Bacharach, Burt Lancaster before he became famous, as well as being the mistress of then-married producer Hal B. Wallis. She was set to marry oil executive William Dugger before he suddenly died. He left half his fortune to Scott and half to his sister, who eventually won the full amount in court.
