Hollywood Latinas Before Rita Moreno

We are proud to participate in the Hispanic Heritage Month Blogathon hosted by Movie Star Makeover and Once Upon a Screen
This is my most intensive video as I used public domain photos, trailer clips, the public domain film, Bird of Paradise (1932), and hostess. Some of the actresses include Dolores Del Rio, Lupe Velez, and Lupita Tovar. Please give any constructive feedback but also understand a computer camera was used and the best angles possible were used considering the limitations and I’m aware of any “ums.”
I don’t think you have to limit yourself to public domain stuff. If it’s educational and you’re not making money from it, it should be okay to use anything.
You frame yourself well in the shot; not too far and not too close, but if possible, I would use an angle with a less distracting background. Or you could blur the background (shallow focus) if you know how to. People’s eyes will always wander to the background if there’s things there. Back on EAN, I noticed whenever an EANer posted photos of themselves, there would always be comments about something in the photo behind the person. But you want us to pay attention to you, not to what’s behind you.
You don’t make any beginner mistakes with the microphone and the sound is clear, but you should speak faster because the pace that you talk at is slowing the pacing of the overall video. Few people will sit patiently through a 15-minute Youtube video.
You’re obviously passionate about the topic, because you spent all that time/effort compiling photos/footage, and you should.let your enthusiasm for it shine through more as you’re speaking, which would both engage us more and speed things up. It already shines through in some parts, like when you talk about Maria Montez.
