RIP Richard Todd (1919-2009)
Irish actor Richard Todd died yesterday. All these actors born in the teens are disappearing. I first saw him in A Man Called Peter when I was in high school. A few months ago I saw him in Alfred Hitchcock’s Stage Fright and The Hasty Heart. I highly recommend The Hasty Heart. The Dam Busters and The Longest Day are also two of his most famous WW2 films. He certainly was a gifted actor. He was also World War 2 veteran. Unfortunately he lost 2 of his sons to suicide.
Here the veteran speaks about D-Day
“Stage Fright” is one of the few Hitchcock films I haven’t seen. How did you like it?

Not bad. I like most of his others better. I’d watch it though to add it to your Hitchcock repertoire. What other Hitchcock films haven’t you seen?

Notable ones I haven’t seen include:
The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934 version)
Secret Agent
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
The Paradine Case
Under Capricorn
I didn’t list all the ones I haven’t watched because there’s some rare ones that probably aren’t on DVD/VHS anyways.
I also haven’t seen anything he made after 1963 (The Birds” is the newest one I’ve seen).

I am so sad to hear this. I will make a post on my own blog about my leading man….RICARDO MONTALBAN. He passed and it really put a damper on things for me.
