I Confess (1953)
I’m still on my francophile high. I Confess is an Alfred Hitchcock movie filmed on location in Quebec City, Canada. I’ve been to Quebec City a few times. My last trip was studying French for 6 weeks at Laval University. This film brought back lovely memories sans murder, of course.
Montgomery Cliff looks so handsome as the priest accused of a murder he didn’t commit but knows who the killer is because of a confession. How could anyone that handsome be a Catholic priest? Understandably ex-flame played by Anne Baxter isn’t over him.
The censors wouldn’t allow the priest to be hung as in the play so you can imagine the Hollywood ending.
